Nov. 6 and 7

English I: Analyzing an expository passage and creating an OEQ response as well as taking time to finish the literary centers and take reading counts quizzes. 

English II: Comparing two very different poems about witches and creating our own original poem after having a lit. circle discussion. 

Reading I: Analyzing the article “Blood In, Blood Out” and pre-writing for an expository essay about humor. 

NOTE: This Friday is the last day of the six weeks. All makeup work and reading counts points are due. Tutoring is available every day before and after school. 

Nov. 4 and 5

English I: Participating in lit. centers on skills like: tone, poetry, summarizing, controlling idea, author’s purpose, etc. Students should have their FINAL DRAFTs in and be ready to take their Reading Counts quizzes.

English II: Taking reading assessment using text evidence to support analysis. Then participating in skill centers. FINAL DRAFTs should be in! Students should be ready for Reading Counts quizzes.

Reading I: Analyzing the story “Band for the Ages” using our URP strategy. Pre-writing for an expository essay.

HW: READ for the READING COUNTS quizzes. Due by Friday at the latest. Please e-mail me at abromber@austinisd.org with any questions.

Oct. 2 + 3

English I and II: We will be doing in class timed-writing assessments and working with our SSR books.  If a student is absent, they need to attend tutoring to make this up ASAP. Students are also taking their reading counts quizzes. Students should be finishing books at home and coming ready to quiz. We’re also turning in our final reading log of the six weeks. Please check with your student to make sure they are getting all their work completed. Feel free to e-mail me as well!

Reading I: We will be completing an in class test on our SSR book and a writing challenge to finish off our first six weeks.
